I LOVE ERIC CARLE!! I have too many ideas for this bag, but probably best to use it to transport my stuff to and from classrooms (I'm a substitute). Don't know if it's good or bad that I'm the first to comment, though!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'm a follower and my daughter would love this bag set. She'd probably carry with her everywhere and fill it up at the library!
ReplyDeleteI just blogged about the giveaway under "My Life According to Me". :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... favorite book... "Brown Bear..." is a great one for repetition, but one of my faves is "The Grouchy Ladybug" because I make the ladybug sound grouchy when I read it aloud! I do love "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" for all of the merchandise available, though! I have a blanket, and a coin purse, and, and, and!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable bag!!! I am a follower and I would use the bag to hold the book and all the props I have to go along with The Very Hungry Caterpillar!!
ReplyDeleteWhat happens in kindergarten... lasts a lifetime
I am a follower :) I HAVE to have that bag. I am obsessed with The Very Hungry Caterpillar and that bag is ADORABLE beyond belief!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Eric Carle book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I usually read this story to our UPK students when they visit our Kindergarten classroom. Then we make coffee filter butterflies (with a close-pin) for a fun craft!
ReplyDeleteWhat happens in kindergarten... lasts a lifetime
After studying Eric Carle it's fun to have the kids illustrate like him using tissue paper. Always comes out precious!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this bag! My mom and I are fortunate enough to teach kindergarten together at the same school. She is an amazing teacher and just won teacher of the year. (She's an amazing teacher AND mother!) I would give this bag to her filled with the few Eric Carle books she doesn't have. What a wonderful giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to pick just one book! My absolute favorite is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I love April- it's when we do an Eric Carle author/illustrator study. We always do tissue paper art. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this bag and know my teaching partner would too. We teach 39 K/1 grade babies! She is in love with all things Eric Carle. If I won I would give it to her filled with wonderful Eric Carle books. She is expecting her first baby May 28th. A new bag and starter library for Baby Mason would be the perfect way to send her off on maternity leave! (Her nursery is even Eric Carle themed!!)
ReplyDeleteOMG, what a GORGEOUS bag!! I have been a follower of your blog and I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Grouchy LadyBug! This bag would be perfect to transport school materials between home and school. It's absolutely adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteOur favorite Eric Carle book in our class is A House for Hermit Crab...we have a hermit crab as our class pet. His name is Larry! We read the book at the beginning of the year and introduce Larry to our students. The students use Larry to write to during centers, talk to when they are upset or tattle when they need to!
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower of your blog and I love it! To be completely honest, if I were the winner of this ADORABLE bag, I would donate it to my very favorite early childhood teacher - she doesn't have a blog and works for a very small center with not a lot of money for resources and I truly think this would make her day! Thanks! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and I would use the bag as a new library bag for my son. We go to the library every week and I think this bag would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog! I am currently student teaching. My Cooperating Teacher's theme this year is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. She would LOVE this. I have learned so much about teaching from her. She has equipped me for my own classroom in ways far beyond my imagination. I've already started to stress myself out trying to figure out what to do for her to show her my deep appreciation for allowing me to teach her students and for teaching me so many things. This bag would be perfect for her! I'd fill it with Eric Carle books that she doesn't have yet and give it to her in thanks for all she has done for me. I can totally see her then using this bag as a bag to put stuff for one of her literacy centers.
ReplyDeleteI love this bag! I need this bag! I would carry it to and from class looking awesome...everyone will ask where this fabulous bag came from and I will lead them to your blog! I am a follower as well.

Also, one of my favorite Eric Carle activities is to read 10 Little Rubber Ducks. Then I squeeze blobs of blue and green paint on a large piece of construction paper and let the kids finger paint water to look like the illustrations. I die cut a whole bunch of yellow ducks and we glue them to the paper. I've used the ducks to count, make patterns or working with ordinals. {I'll say put a hat on the 3rd duck, draw a bathingsuit on the 1st duck, etc.} It's a fun project and the kids are always amazed that their water looks just like his.

Love it! Great bag!

ReplyDeleteIt is hard to just pick one Eric Carle book because we read so many of them. Probably the first one we read in the year is the one he illustrated, Brown Bear, Brown Bear. This book really helps with reinforcing color words. We also do a simple readers theatre with it --helps with fluency/oral language. The children love it.
ReplyDeleteI love this bag!! First I would use it to kick off the unit on caterpillars/butterflies and have related fiction/non fiction books inside. Then I would use it to hold many of Eric Carle's books --for an author study and finally I would use it just for me! This bag is wonderful and would make me smile every time I looked at it. I am a follower!!

My favorite eric carle book to use is Brown Bear. At the beginning of the year, my students each have a page to illustrate and make a new book about the students in our class. (For example, Kelly, Kelly, what do you see? I see Michael wearing a blue shirt that is what I see.)

I would love to win this bag and use it for a shared reading/writing experience between school and home. I would write a shared writing story introduction and have students and parents add to the story each night. The student would take home the bag and all contents for a night before returning it to school to share with the class the next day.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Eric Carle book is The Very Hungry Catpillar. I love it so much it was the theme of my daughter's first birthday party! She LOVES the board book and I enjoy sharing it with my kindergarten students each spring. We usually read it while we are waiting for our caterpillars to turn into butterflies.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower! I have some props for Eric Carle books but they are currently in plain old plastic baggies. Can you imagine the excitement kids would have to see this bag? Then to look inside and see all their favorite Eric Carle books with props for them to retell the books themselves!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Eric Carle book....hmm....there are so many great ones but I think the one I like best just now is Ten Little Rubber Duckies. He was inspired from a newspaper clipping about a box of rubber duckies that fell overboard from a ship. My boys really enjoy his books that have a little surprise sound at the end but this one they really like due to the art. I love how he adds surprises of many forms to his books (sounds, lights, or in this case the inspiration for the story:) )
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog (it's so cute)!
ReplyDeleteI would like to use the bag as a take home book activity bag - but I may be too selfish and use it for myself! I love it!
One of my favorite activities with Eric Carle is a new one I just did this year! We were learning about colors for St. Patrick's day, and I had the kids mix the primary colors, along with adding white and black to existing colors. When they finished, we cut out the different swatches and made pictures of butterflies and flowers...very much in the Eric Carle style. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteFollower! The bag is gorgeous. I'd take it everywhere! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Eric Carle. My favorite activity is using puppets to illustrate The Hungry Caterpillar.
ReplyDeleteI posted your giveaway on my brand new blog!! Please check it out, but be gentle..I am totally new to blogging! Love your blog!!

Hello, I just found your blog and at the same time saw your giveaway...I love Eric Carle and would love the bag for myself, however if I were to win this giveaway I would be giving it to a FABULOUS AMAZING parent helper I've had this year. She loves books and has described to me how many she has for her kids & I always see her carting several bags back and forth and would love to give this to her!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog and I would LOVE to win this giveaway. I have Eric Carle stuff throughout my room, including a caterpillar on my rocking chair! The bag would be a great place to store props and special books!

We did two great activities this year through an Eric Carle author study - They Very Grouchy Ladybug - We made ladybugs and inside were stapled my kid's stories, The Very Grouchy _____. Then we made caterpillars and did The Very Hungry _______. <--- that tied into health as well.

I'm a follower! My favorite Eric Carle book is "The Tiny Seed". We read it this year during our plant life cycle unit. My students retold the story in their own seed books then we planted flower seeds!
ReplyDeleteThe bag you are giving away is so beautiful! As tempting as it would be to keep it and use it for myself, I would most definitely give it to my son's preschool teacher. She has been so patient and loving with my son this year and has worked so hard to prepare him for kindergarten!
What a great bag!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great to use as a special reading bag for my kiddies in Daily 5!
This is such a beautiful bag! I am a first grade teacher who quilts (I LOVE the Eric Carle fabrics!) and would love to put very special read alouds in this bag so the kiddos would be surprised when we read our most favorite first grade books. I am an avid follower of your blog!
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness! I love that bag!!! I make thematic take-home packs for my students. I try to put each one in an interesting bag that depicts the theme of the pack. This would be PERFECT for the Eric Carle pack I plan to make next!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Eric Carle activity is learning to make collages like he does! We watch an old video of Mister Rogers visiting Eric Carle at his studio. After the video, we make our own collages. They always do a GREAT job! We use these pictures to make a class book.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a CUTE bag! I LOVE bags. I try and collect different bags to use for each unit. I love to stuff the bag full of artifacts, books and other items we may use during the unit. Then we pull things out one at a time and try and figure out what each thing is for and what we will be studying. Many times I am stuck using a large brown paper bag from the grocery store. I am new to the world of blogging and have not begun my own blog yet - it is top priority on my summer to do list!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and it is so cute. The caterpillar bag is precious. I do the Very Hungry Caterpillar in my class with a sock puppet. It is a green sock that I wear on my hand. I have all the pieces from the book made out of felt with large holes in the middle. I tell the story with the green sock on my hand and then put each piece through my hand like I am eating them. The kids love this and it was so easy to make with felt. This bag would be great to keep my sock puppet in:)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I enjoy getting on and seeing what you have that's new (I check it daily). I would love to have the Hungry Caterpillar bag!! The book is one of my favorites. I would be able to tell the story with more character with the bag, caterpillar, and book. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe Very Hungry Caterpillar is my favorite Eric Carlisle book! So this would be absolutely perfect! Thanks so much for such a great give away!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably my favorite Eric Carle book. I would use the bag as a retell center with all the props inside.
ReplyDeleteI also love the Very Busy Spider. We make spider webs and then go into the study of the web.
ReplyDeleteI follow you and I would LOVE to put all my caterpillar and butterfky props in this bag!! It is ADORABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Eric Carle book is the very busy spider :-) I like to make handprint spiders and then make "spder" drinks for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog :)

P.S. oh and I would use it for a Take Home bag to go with the rest of mine :)
ReplyDelete#3 I have the children make their very own caterpillar :)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite book by EC is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I have story props and the little caterpillar and as I read the story I have the caterpillar crawl through everything that he eats. Then at the end we try to go back through and remember the sequence.
